The outsole, meaning the pattern and shape of the studs, decides how a boot grips, how comfortable it feels and how long it lasts. The four main outsole types

You will also see MG (multi-ground) boots that aim to work on both natural and artificial grass, and SG (soft ground) boots with metal or long studs for wet, muddy pitches.
Firm ground (FG): the everyday choice
FG boots are the most common soccer cleats in the world. Their studs are long enough to grip dry natural grass but not so aggressive that they get stuck. Artificial grass (AG) and turf (TF)
As more clubs and schools install artificial pitches, demand for AG and TF shoes keeps growing. Long FG studs can grip too hard on some artificial surfaces, so many players prefer shorter AG studs or turf nubs. TF shoes are also popular for training on hard ground and for younger players, because they are comfortable and easy to wear. Indoor (IC): flat soles for halls and futsal
Indoor shoes have flat rubber outsoles designed for smooth courts. They should never be replaced with studded boots indoors: studs damage floors and give poor grip. If you sell to futsal clubs or indoor leagues, indoor shoes are a separate category to plan for.
How to plan a soccer cleat range
- Start with your customers' pitches. A market with mostly natural grass needs FG first; a city market with many artificial pitches needs AG and TF.
- Cover adults and youth. Youth and junior sizes are a large share of soccer footwear sales, and parents buy every season.
- Offer both high and low tops. Sock-collar high tops are popular for their snug fit and look; classic low tops remain a steady seller.
- Test before you commit. Order a mix of styles from ready stock, then turn your best sellers into your own branded line.
